Genie9 Licenses Sonic Solutions DVD Technology
Genie9, October 17 - 2004 - Genie9 software, developer of novel backup and security solutions, today announced an agreement to license DVD authoring technology from Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ:SNIC), the world's leading supplier of authoring systems for DVD-Video production. The technology that Genie9 has licensed from Sonic will serve to strengthen Genie9 products' by enhancing its capability to backup to optical media.
Under the terms of the agreement, Genie9 will license Sonic's industry leading AuthorScriptT formatting engine to be integrated into the company's main backup solution Genie Backup Manager Pro for the month of October, and with other Genie9 software titles and future releases in months to come.

The new engine will among other things add Unicode filename support and support for dual layer DVD burners to Genie9's optical media handling.
