Alternating between normal and incremental/differential*/mirror modes via scheduling

A common practice in scheduling backups is to set the task to run in normal mode (all selected files) on a weekly basis, and in increment mode for the rest of the days of the week

To achieve this in GBM the user needs to schedule the same backup job twice; once for the Normal runs and once for the increments as follows:

  • Create a new backup job or edit and existing one.
  • Go to Step 5 "Schedule" in the backup wizard.
  • Enable scheduling and then select "Advanced Schedule".
  • Under "Full Backup", set the time that you want the backup to run at.
  • Now select the backup type that you prefer by checking the box next to "Incremental Backup" or "Differential Backup" and then choose when you want the backup to run.
  • Choose the settings that you prefer under "Security Settings" and "More Settings".
  • Save the backup job.

Notes:

* differential backup is not a supported Backup type for GBM Home.

** GBM Pro and Server 8.0 and 9.0 supports alternating between backup types via Advanced Scheduler

APPLIES TO:
GBM 7.0,8.0 and 9.0
