How to use Purging

Purging is deleting old backup jobs when the storage media is rewritable, and the user has the right folder privileges i.e. automatic deletion. Its main advantage is saving space and rotating backup types.
To activate the purging option, you can find it in the “Settings” page which is step 4 in the backup process; it is at the end of the page.

Purging can be done using three techniques:

  1. Keep old backups: Keeps all backup versions.
  2. Keep only last X backups: Keeps number of backups specified by the user.
  3. Keep old Backup for a period of X Days: Keeps backups created in a period of days; purges older ones.

Note: If your backup job utilizes the advanced schedule (step 5 in the backup process), please note that purging settings (Found in step 4) will not apply to this backup job, due to the purging options will get overwritten.
So please use the option "Limit number of backup sets to" which can be found under "more settings" in the advanced schedule to enable purging, instead of purging settings (located in step 4).
