Genie9, December 15, 2006 - Genie9 has done it again
making the Server edition of GBM more powerful than ever. Starting with the ability
to Backup MS SQL and Exchange Server, ending with GBMAgent.
Version 7.0 features include supporting online backup on the new Genie Online Backup
Service which is embedded in the same product. This feature enables the user to
have the flexibility to backup anywhere desired without having to purchase a separate
service. With GBM Server 7.0, the flexibility of backup to virtually any storage
device is at a click of a button.
GBM Server also has enhanced the optical engine, making backup to blu-ray and high
definition disks possible. Not to mention having a new enhanced tape engine making
backup to tape reliable more than ever.
Another main feature is the enhancement of the compression capability using 64-bit
zip engine making the split limitation that GBM6.0 and prior versions had disappear,
in addition of having the ability of backing up a file as large as 8 terra bytes.
GBM Server 7.0 has also increased its organizing capabilities, with CPU Affinity
allowing the user to specify which CPU GBM runs on and improving reporting capability
by providing its users with job summary information on the last job performed, pop-
up notifications of the successfully completed job, and reminders and alerts on
jobs that have not ran for three days or the have encountered problems. In addition
of including GBM agent, this nifty tool enabling the users to view the backup status
of backup jobs, create a new a new job, edit an old one, run a quick backup, and
check for updates without the need to open GBM. And last but not least, the
Logs Manger, enabling the user to view detailed log showing the
files that has been backed up with the complete path their status and size, in addition
of the ability to sort the logs by jobs, date, or results, making it easier to manage
the backup logs.
With GBM Server 7.0, backup has never been this powerful.
