You Receive the Following error: MFC80U.DLL cannot be found in specified location

SYMTOMS:
When opening GBM after installing on Windows 2000 Platforms

CAUSES:
This occurs due to the fact that GBM requires Internet Explorer 6 as a minimum installation requirement or the DLL is missing.

RESOLUTION:

  1. Upgrading to IE6, you may install it from the following link:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx
  2. Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

GBM 8 and later require the Service Pack 1 version of the MFC 8 and Visual C++ 8 components.  If upgrading to IE6 did not solve your problem, you can download a small program from Microsoft that will restore any missing files.  The files are available here:

Microsoft components for 32-bit Windows versions (SP1):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647&displaylang=en

Microsoft components for 64-bit Windows versions (SP1):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=eb4ebe2d-33c0-4a47-9dd4-b9a6d7bd44da&DisplayLang=en

APPLIES TO:
All GBM 8 Products
