GBM requires a username for scheduling an unattended backup though it's a standalone

SYMPTOMS:
Genie Backup Manger requests a username and password for scheduling an unattended backup task even though mine is a standalone computer and no user name or password are required to log in.
 
CAUSE:
This behavior occurs due to the fact that the user has a null password and on Windows XP and above operating systems you must provide a user name and password for the task.

RESOLUTION:

  • Select Run only when user is logged on under security options in the Backup Schedule Step
  • Enter a login password for users. To run the scheduled task whether the user is logged in or not, you must provide username and password. To set a username perform the following steps:
  • Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click User Accounts.
  • Click the user account you want to add a password to, and then click Create a Password.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen to create a password. Note that any valid password is acceptable, but it cannot be a blank password, and you must log off and then log on again before you schedule the task.
